All volunteers – head coaches, assistant coaches, and team mangers – are required to register with Abington Youth Soccer and to complete clearances and additional requirements as outlined below.  Abington Youth Soccer reserves the right to refuse participation for any volunteer who does not successfully complete all volunteer requirements.

Please contact aysclearances@gmail.com with any questions or clarifications.

To begin, please complete Coach Registration after registering your players. If you are coaching more than one team you will need to complete the Coach Registration form multiple times, once for each age group in which you are coaching.

As you proceed through the registration form, please note the following:

  • A photo is not required.  You can click continue to bypass this section

  • When you reach the “Authorization for Background Check” page, you will need to check the checkbox and electronically sign to proceed.  There will not be any background check conducted by AYS or EPYSA.  This waiver also states that you have already submitted clearances and concussion training, although in most cases you will not yet have submitted all of these.  This waiver is in the process of being updated to state that you have or will submit these documents.  AYS has no control over the content of this waiver, so please complete as is to continue the registration process.

Following registration, you will return to your AYS/Stack Sports Member Account profile to submit additional required documentation. Click below to access your Member Account.

The following are required for all AYS volunteers:

  1. Clearances – Pennsylvania Act 153 requires organizations like AYS to collect clearances from all volunteers who work directly with children.  All clearances must be uploaded to your AYS/Stack Sports Member Account Profile as a single document.  Please see below for tips on merging into a single document, and upload to the Safety/Additional Certification spot on your profile.  Please see Pennsylvania Act 153 Required Clearances below for additional information on how to complete these requirements, and contact aysclearances@gmail.com with any questions.

  2. Concussion Course – complete the CDC concussion course and upload the certificate to your AYS/Stack Sports Member Account profile.  A link in your profile will take you directly to the CDC course.  Return to your profile to upload your PDF certificate when complete.

  3. SafeSport Training – complete the SafeSport Abuse Prevention Training.  A link in your profile next to Abuse Prevention Certificate will provide you with a code to access the course at no charge, and will take you directly to the training. Once you complete the training, your certificate will be automatically saved to your Account Profile in the Abuse Prevention Certificate spot. This training takes 90 minutes to complete but does allow you to pause and return later.

Pennsylvania Act 153 Required Clearances

Complete 1, 2 and 3 or 4 depending on length of residency:

  1. Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance (click here). Please note that this clearance takes up to 2 weeks to receive after submission.

  2. Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Clearance (click here). Please select the “Volunteers Only” option.

  3. Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers (click here). To be completed (sign and date) if you have been a resident of Pennsylvania for more than 10 years.

  4. FBI Criminal Background Check. To be completed if you have been a resident of Pennsylvania for less than 10 years. Please note there is a fee for this clearance ($20-25) and the clearance can take several weeks to be completed after being fingerprinted. Click here to pre-register using the service code 1KG6ZJ.  More information is available at the DHS website (click here).

The above clearances remain valid for 5 years from the date issued. It is the policy of AYS to maintain a single renewal date per volunteer (rather than per clearance).  For example, if John Doe’s Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance is dated July 1, 2014, while the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Clearance is dated July 1, 2015, both documents must be renewed by July 1, 2019.

Merging Documents

The following are a few ways to combine your clearances into a single document to upload to your AYS/Stack Sports profile.

  1. Print all of your clearances and scan them into a single PDF using an app such as TurboScan or Genius Scan.

  2. Use a website such as pdfjoiner.com or pdfmerge.com

  3. Use Adobe Acrobat’s Combine Files tool (not available in the free Acrobat Reader)

Thank you for helping AYS to comply with the state requirements, and for your participation in the success of our league!
